The Bruins Just Blew A 3 Goal Lead And Lost In A SO Against The Flyers!!!
The Bruins once again blew a 3 goal lead and, you guessed it, lost in a shootout. Marchand over skated the puck (had to score to extend shootout) and the Bruins' 3 game winning streak has been snapped. Abolish the fucking shootout. But my god what a dogshit second half of the game by the B's.
Anders Bjork opened the scoring after the Flyers turned the puck over. What a gift. 1-0 Bruins.
David Krejci (10th of the year) extended the lead with a PPG. Hell of a feed from Heinen to find him.
Team Portnoy's own Kevin Hayes cut the lead in half. Bergeron in the box for a high sticking double minor. 2-1.
Early in the 2nd David Pastrnak scored his 36th of the season to make it 3-1.
Then Philly quickly answered back. Sanheim. 3-2.
Danton Heinen fed Charlie Coyle who sniped one past Carter Hart to make it 4-2.
Jake DeBrusk forced a turnover then Anders Bjork found David Krejci for his 2nd goal of the game. 5-2.
Sean Couturier got a soft one past Jaro Halak to make it 5-3.
With 5:14 left in the 2nd the Flyers pulled within one, puck deflected off both B's defenders and in. Connor Bunnamen gets the credit 5-4.
With 7:02 left in the 3rd Travis Sanheim tied the game on the 4 on 4. 5-5.
Travis Konecny scored the only goal of the SO to win it for the Flyers.
FINAL: Philadelphia 6, Boston 5 (SO)
News, notes and quotes:
- Blowing a 3 goal lead? Not great! Not scoring in a SO? Horrible. Marchand not even getting an attempt? Even worse. Abolish the fucking shootout but holy shit the Bruins pissed away that game. Sloppy sloppy sloppy 2nd half to the game. Embarrassing.
- Marchand had to score to extend the SO and welp.
- 1000th game for Zdeno Chara in a B's uniform. Probably their best free agent signing ever? I'd say so. Congrats to Z.
- 36 goals on the season for David Pastrnak. He's hitting 50.
- 14th straight game with a PPG for the B's. Great pass from Danton Heinen (100th point of his career) and David Krejci scored.
- How about this new twig from Bauer? What a contraption. Couldn't score in the SO to win it.
- First goal in 9 games for Anders Bjork who is making a case to be a mainstay as the 2 RW. 2nd line was buzzing all around. JD making plays. 2 apples for Bjork. 2 goals for Krech.
- 2 apples for Heino tonight. B's got the secondary scoring tonight but couldn't finish the game.
- Not a great game for Jaro Halak. Team in front of him didn't play well but man some of those goals seemed like easy saves. He did stop 4 of 5 in the SO. Team just couldn't score.
B's get right back at it tomorrow night in Columbus. Tuukka Rask in net.
I have no words. 2nd time this season they've blown a 3 goal lead and lost. Fuck me. We're on to Columbus.
