Za'Darius Smith Being Snubbed From The NFL All-Pro Teams Is An Injustice To Society

Today the NFL All-Pro teams were announced and the only member of the 13-3 Green Bay Packers to make the list was LT David Bakhtiari, who grabbed a 2nd team selection. That's it. Now I don't have a gripe with Aaron Jones not making it because McCaffrey and Derrick Henry were ridiculous this year. Jones deserved votes, but he wasn't better than those guys. I do, however, have a big problem with Za'Darius Smith getting snubbed. That's insane.

The four edge rushers who got selected were Chandler Jones, Cameron Jordan, Shaq Barrett, and T.J. Watt. Z finished 5th in voting despite changing this entire defense and leading them to a 13-3 record.

No player in the NFL had more QB pressures than Za'Darius Smith in 2019. He was a fucking menace. He ended up 6th in sacks with 13.5, which is probably why he didn't make the cut. Voters look at eye-popping boxscore numbers. Barrett had 19.5 sacks. They saw that and voted him in. If you were a QB who faced the Packers this year, odds are Za'Darius Smith was in your face all game. Just ask Kirk Cousins a few weeks ago. He had no chance. Z broke that game in half.

I'm not trying to take away the great season that Shaq Barrett had (I guess I kind of am by accident), but Z led this defense and is one of the main reasons they went 13-3 and have a bye in the playoffs. He took over football games. Something a Packers edge rusher hasn't done in YEARS. To me that's deserving of an All-Pro selection. I think he was absolutely deserving. He got snubbed, but you know what? He'll use this in the playoffs and take over games then too. He'll see Cam Jordan, most likely, in the divisional round and want to prove he's the best pass rusher in that game. Pray for anyone in his path.

Go Pack Go.
