Nate Burleson Risks His Life To Save A Pizza
ESPN – Nate Burleson leaned over early Tuesday morning to try to adjust one of the pizza boxes falling off a seat in his black 2009 GMC Yukon. By doing so, the Detroit Lions wide receiver could be out of action for a long time. Burleson broke his left arm in a single-car crash on Interstate 696 heading westbound near Drake Road in Farmington Hills, Mich., around 2:25 a.m. Tuesday. Police were called to the scene. Burleson, who complained of pain in his arm, was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw. Turns out his arm is broken in two places, according to what Burleson’s agent, Ken Sarnoff, told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder. The Lions confirmed Burleson will have surgery Tuesday. “It was actually a whole pizza,” Shaw said. “He had purchased two whole pizzas, and one was sitting on top of the other one, and I guess when he was driving one of them was slipping off, and he was reaching over to push it back onto the seat and overcorrected and hit the median wall.”
Nate Burleson can eat pizza with me anyday. I mean this is what Team Pizza is all about. Like if you’re not willing to lay your life down to save a pie you can’t call yourself a pizza man. Sure it sucks he broke his arm and is out for the season. But once that pizza started to slip what choice did he have? Every man comes to a crossroads at some point in their lives. A time when life tests you. A time to see whether you answer the bell when the chips are down. The easy thing here would have been to let the pizza fall on the floor and save yourself.. The right thing to do was to save the pizza and drive directly into the median. Nate Burleson. Team Pizza for life. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. You don’t choose the pizza life. The pizza life chooses you.
