The Odds Of Making The Playoffs Are Slim, But Anything Can Happen On A Monday Night! Colts Vs Saints Pregame Blog
IT'S GAME NIGHT! The Boys in Blue take on the Saints in MNF. I said this 2 weeks ago after losing to the Titans that we're better off tanking for a high draft pick, but Frank Reich isn't going to let that slide. The chances of making the playoffs are close to D.K Metcalf's body fat, but they're still alive.
The Colts and Saints have some history. We lost to the Saints in Super Bowl 44, lost to them in 62-7 in 2011, and lost to them 27-21 in 2015. We haven't beaten them since 2007! The Colts have lost 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a high scoring 38-35 loss to the Bucs. The Saints are 10-3 and are also coming off a high scoring 48-46 loss to the 49ers. If we are going to win arguably the hardest game on the schedule, we'll need to cover these 3 keys.
1. Control The Clock
- Our defense gave up 38 points last week and CB Kenny Moore is out again. The Saints offense is nasty and we're playing in one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. If we can run the ball all game, keep the Saints offense off the field, and control the clock, we have a shot at winning.
2. TACKLE
-Besides Darius Leonard, we have a problem wrapping up. We're going up against Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray, Michael Thomas and Jared Cook. If we can't wrap up on these guys, Drew Brees and company are going to light our asses up tonight. Our defense is either going to play like they did against the Chiefs, or they're going to look like a mess.
3. Make Field Goals
- I've been saying this every week since Vinny has been on a terrible streak, make field goals. Make every extra point. If we make these, it will give us a better chance to win the football game. As easy as that.
Predictions:
The Saints are definitely the better team and one of the best teams in the league right now, but it's the NFL. Anyone can win. T.Y. coming back may keep the game close, but it's going to be tough as hell. I'm going with 2 predictions for tonight:
Very Biased Prediction Because I Was A Ball Boy For The Colts: Colts 34 Saints 27
Actual Prediction: Saints 38 - Colts 21
Shoutout to Saints WR Krishawn Hogan! He was on the Colts practice squad for 2 years, battled injuries, and has been on the Saints 53-man roster this season. It will be very cool to see the former Marian Knight play on MNF against his old team. As always, Go Horse.
