The Orioles Rebuild Chugs Along As They Trade Dylan Bundy To The Angels For Four Minor Leaguers

Get off the tracks or the Orioles rebuild train will get ya. Another shoe drops today as the Birds shipped out their former first round pick, Dylan Bundy to the Angels for four minor league right handers. Bundy was rumored to be on the trade block last week, and just earlier this week Mike Elias said Bundy’s name was popping up a lot from teams around the league.

I’m not going to BS you and act like I’ve ever heard those names before, because I haven’t. From what I’m reading, Kyle Bradish is the top rated guy in this haul, #21 in the Angels system. I think we saw all that Bundy was going to be, a former power pitcher who didn’t have the blazing fastball anymore, but at times flashed and showed that top prospect skill. He was in the conversation for greatest and most dominant High School pitcher ever, but couldn’t quite put it together in the bigs. For every good game he had, the one-hitter against Seattle a few seasons back, you have the game where he gave up 4 homers in the first to the Royals without getting an out. You took the good with the bad with him. Hopefully he goes to LAA and figures it out. Would it shock me if he turned into Jake Arrieta and won the Cy Young out there? Nope. He was a classic change of scenery guy, and he’s gonna get that with this trade. He was injured so often after he was drafted, it was almost like he was a forgotten man.

It sucks he never lived up to his billing as the 100 MPH tosser, but he was a solid rotation piece here for the club. Him coming up in 2016 out of the bullpen he was electric. He could rear back and chuck it cuz he knew he was only going for an inning or 2, what a time that was. Bundy finishes his Orioles career with a 38-45 record, a 4.67 ERA in 103 starts, 602 Ks in 614 1/3 innings pitched, but could never keep the ball in the yard, giving up 114 home runs. Too many times his fastball just ran back over the plate and got taken yard.

Thanks for the hard work Dylan, go kill it in Cali. The rebuild train rolls on and four new prospects get thrown into a loaded farm system. Some of them have to work out, right?
