(USA) — Brittney Griner is breaking down another barrier by being the first openly-gay athlete to be endorsed by Nike, but don’t think they’re going to salt her game, she has already made up her mind to model more of an androgynous style of clothing. ESPN’s Kate Fagan revealed that Griner’s contract will allow her to wear clothes branded for men. Androgynous models are coveted in high-end fashion, but the trend toward gender-neutral clothing has only just begun to reach the sports world, with NBA stars Russell Westbrook and Dwyane Wade blurring the lines in their tight jeans and fitted sweaters.
Love this move from Griner. Play to your strengths. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Like she’s 6’8″ 207 lbs, so what position does she play? Not point guard. She plays center, because that’s where she belongs. Same goes in the modeling game. You think some kind of Predator/RGIII hybrid would sell a lot of girly clothes? Doubt it. So the only option is to be a male model. Be the best fucking male model a female can be. Fuck all the pink and neon shit, give Britney a jock strap and a bow tie and start counting your money.
