Well, there’s no other way to say it: the Packers got their asses handed to them by the Chargers. It wasn’t a loss. It wasn’t as simple as, “well maybe if the protection/tackling/blocking was better, the Pack would be in this.” You can’t place the blame solely on the o-line (though they do deserve their fair share), or the defense for giving up over 450 yards, or the dumb/costly penalties. No, this was a complete loss, a TEAM loss.
On all sides of the ball.
Including special teams who played extra “special” today, committing a penalty on a Chargers field goal that lead to a touchdown, and of course, the blocked punt.
If we’re going by Matt LaFleur’s brilliant, “All gas, no fucking brake” statement from the Raiders game, well this one would be more like, “All brakes because all of our tires are flat, our engine fell out down the road somewhere, oh and, we forgot to pump to gas.”
Not the best.
However, if you would’ve told me three months ago, the Packers – a team with a brand new, rookie head coach and a completely different offense that no longer had Randall Cobb – would start the season 7-1… I’m not sure I would’ve believed you. No one really knew what was going to happen this season, what to expect, or how it would look.
It’s safe to say, at 7-2, my expectations have been exceeded.
So let’s all R-E-L-A-X, write this game off as a no-show, and move the fuck on.
Go Pack Go.
(P.S. If the ass beating just HAD to happen, at least it was by Coach Lynn – one of the best dudes I know.
