Entire Phoenix Police Force Goes To Fallen Officer's Daughter's Kindergarten Graduation

PHOENIXHundreds of Phoenix police officers converged on a Valley school Wednesday morning in a show of support for one of their own. The daughter of Officer Daryl Raetz, who was killed in the line of duty over the weekend, graduated from kindergarten today. Because her father couldn’t be there, her Phoenix Police Department family showed up to stand in his stead and celebrate Tatum. “She had 300, 400 parents up here for her this morning,” Officer James Holmes said. “It was absolutely amazing. It was bittersweet and it was a bit overwhelming for all of us.”

Well that’s about the saddest, coolest thing I’ve ever seen. If you told me I’d be crying at my desk this morning I would have called you a liar. But when an entire police force shows how seriously they take their brotherhood and honor their fallen by showing up at a 5 year old’s graduation, then what am I supposed to do? Might as well have chopped an onion and pepper sprayed me directly in the eyeball while the National Anthem played. I was completely helpless.

Hats off to the PFD on that one, incredibly moving.
