BBQ Bruce Boudreau Says The Team Might Suck But At Least The Boys Are Eatin' Good On The Road
The Minnesota Wild started off the season with 4 straight losses. They picked up their first win of the year yesterday in Ottawa, but yeah it’s been a pretty shitty start to the year for Bruce Boudreau. Well, at least as far as hockey is concerned. But off the ice? Things aren’t necessarily going too bad for ol’ BBQ Bruce. The Wild got shafted by the scheduling committee and have 13 of their first 18 games of the season on the road. Typically that would be a nuisance to most teams but for Bruce? That just means he’s swimming in per diem and crushing those meal orders.
At this point, Bruce Boudreau might have the best job in the world. I mean it’s not going to last for much longer considering he’s probably on his way out soon. Back-to-back first round exits from the playoffs in 5 games, and now starting off the year 1-4? His days in Minnesota are numbered. But in the meantime? He just gets to hit the road with the boys, crush some meals with that per diem money, and there’s really no more pressure on him at all. He knows that he’s probably on the way out so what does he care? If they win, they win. If they lose, then they were going to be losing anyway. Just spend every single penny of that per diem because you’re there for a good time, not a long time. I love it.
Only thing I don’t love is that as soon as Boudreau gets fired in Minnesota, there’s a good chance that the Devils finally lock John Hynes out of the facility and then hire Bruce. As funny as it is that he constantly chokes in the playoffs, he’s a great regular season coach. Last thing I need in my life is the Devils taking up a playoff spot for the next 4 years before he ends up getting fired there too.
