The Rock Is STILL The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment, If You Were Wondering

Friday Night SmackDown makes its debut on network television tonight on FOX, and who better than the man who coined the term in the first place to get the show started?!

That’s right, Vince called in a favor and brought Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in for the premiere, and his segment was pretty much perfect. From the pop when “IF YA SMELLLLLLLL” hit, to the classic nineties one-liners, to the pairing of he and “The Man” Becky Lynch, to roar of the crowd by the time he got around to squaring up a People’s Elbow on Baron Corbin, there wasn’t a moment I didn’t have a massive smile on my face. The Rock has not lost a STEP on the mic, and I was actually just sitting here laughing to myself at just how much he had the crowd in the palm of his hands. He might even be more comfortable now than he ever has been!

I should mention, the other wrestlers in this segment also played their roles flawlessly as well. Becky actually felt like she could hang with Dwayne on the mic, something incredibly difficult to achieve even a hint of, and Corbin fed himself to both of em/bumped really well.

SmackDown still has a Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon ladder match and Kofi Kingston (c) vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship (Lesnar’s first match on television in like 15 years), so if you’re interested, flip over to FOX and join in on the monumental night. It’s gonna be a fun one.
