You know what? I LOVE this line from JJ Redick. The dude is 13-for-13 on making the playoffs in his NBA career. He decided to join the Pelicans as a free agent to play with guys like Zion and an intriguing young core. It’s mostly on the shoulders of Zion to live up to the hype in order for them to make the loaded Western Conference playoffs.

Tell the franchise guy right away what you expect. Fuck that stupid ‘Brotherhood’ nickname Duke has for its program. Duke players don’t even love Duke that much, so no need to pretend. It’s all about getting to the playoffs now. A little bad news though for JJ, Zion couldn’t even get Duke to the Final Four. Not a great start for this.

Although you do have to question JJ’s judgement ability. He did make this statement:

That will never go away. I promise you, I will always hate Duke, especially their white guys that slap the floor defensively and are seemingly in college for 17 years.

So now Zion has the pressure of not missing the playoffs and ruining Redick’s run, the hype of saving the Pelicans post-Anthony Davis and being the most viral rookie since LeBron to live up to. No pressure at all.
