Football Guy of the Week Nominees: CFB Week 5 and NFL Week 4

The final day of September comes in HOT with a loaded list of potential Football Guys of the Week. Each of the past few votes have been blowouts, but I have a hard time believing this week’s winner will be crowned in convincing fashion. We had a larger-than-usual preliminary list, but there are only room for four to advance to the voting stage. Let’s break them down:

South Carolina HC Will Muschamp- After beating Kentucky: “It’s been a shitty fall. I got more grey hair than I’ve ever had. My wife doesn’t like hanging around losers – I’ve been losing so it ain’t been good.”

It’s one thing to lose football games as a head coach. It’s another thing to lose football games as a head coach in the SEC. A lot of those towns eat, sleep, and breathe football and coming up short on Saturday’s in the fall certainly isn’t accepted. Good to see that Coach Muschamp is getting back on the right track.

Ravens DC Wink Martindale- Said he lost 4 pounds during the week after watching Chiefs tape 3 times and throwing up all 3 times.

Yikes. Good luck watching yesterday’s Browns tape, coach. We will send over extra barf bags for your convenience.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid- During his post game speech after the win at Detroit: “Not all of Mozart’s paintings were perfect.”

I mean, he’s not wrong here. I’m sure Mozart drew a painting at least once in his lifetime. And I can bet you it probably wasn’t perfect. But his performances on the violin and piano? Magical.

Iowa FB Brady Ross- After scoring his first career TD he said: “To get in the end zone is cool. Frankly I’m more proud of some of the blocks I made.”

We might have to award Ross a fullback assist for extra credit here, or something along those lines. He finally scored a touchdown, but the blocks are more important. Fullbacks being fullbacks. Appropriate.
