THE Ohio State Of Pathetic, Loser Mentality: AD Supports Boycotting California Teams And Wants To Kick Them Out Of The NCAA

[Source] - Smith said that if Newsom signs the bill, schools in California are “going to have a model where they can almost pay for play – not quite – but I think they’re going to be challenged to maintain their membership in the association because, as an association, we have the authority as a group to make our own rules and regulations, and they will be outside those rules and regulations. So, I’m not quite sure how they will stay in the association.”

“So, my position would be, yes, and actually I would really be interested in how the Pac-12 (Conference) will handle those schools who are not in California that are members of the Pac-12. And how those schools will compete against those schools in California who have an unfair advantage because they’ll be able to offer student-athletes benefits that the other schools will not be able to offer. So, yeah, my position would be we walk. …

How pathetic is Ohio State and Gene Smith? Oh you want to kick California schools out of the NCAA because they are approving student-athletes making money on their name, likeness and image? I guess when Gene Smith can’t profit off of it himself he’s ready to just give them the boot. Can’t say I’m surprised an Ohio State person is making a terrible decision – seems to go hand in hand with that school.

Now as Bilas points out – this is the important part. Smith is part of the committee that’s supposedly looking into exploring allowing athletes profit off of NLI. One small thing about that committee? The lack of former athletes that actually know what it’s like. You have someone like this who thinks we should just boot people out of the NCAA.

You know what?

Go ahead and kick California out of the NCAA. Just kick all the power schools out of the NCAA and have them play their own league if this is the solution. I’d much rather the NCAA get fucked than adapt to present day.

It’s just so pathetic how guys like Gene Smith refuse to say the logical thing here. The logical statement? ‘We’re hoping to work to find a way to let student-athletes profit off of NLI without the pressure of bills and states.’ Boom. I just solved it for everyone. I mean it’s not that difficult.

Again, I don’t know why we pretend like college sports is some pure thing. The NCAA has been corrupt since the 1940s. There have been pay for play scandals, point shaving scandals, all that stuff going on for nearly 100 years now. Yet they refuse to adapt. That’s the problem. It’s simple. I say it in every blog. Let every single student-athlete profit off of NLI. Schools pay scholarships, athletes profit off of NLI. We already see the top talent going to the same schools, that won’t change.

Fucking Ohio State supporting the National Communist Athletic Association. Just pathetic, but what else is new from that school.
