With the season winding down we're getting a lot of "Could be player x's last fill in the blank" scenarios. In Baltimore we had what could be Chris Davis' final home run in Camden Yards as a member of the Orioles. Now I'm not here to harp on arguably the worst contract in sports, no way, that isn't how I do it. I'm going to remember the good times, not the worst offensive season in MLB history. Throwing it back to 2012 when the Orioles were in Boston and locked in a stalemate with the Sox. They were tied 6-6 going into the bottom of the 16th inning. They had already used a billion guys and didn't want to waste the pen anymore, that is when they called on Chris Davis to enter the game on the bump. He was already playing in the game and wound up going 0/8 with 5 Ks. Naturally, he goes out there and strikes out Jarrod Saltalamacchia, gets Will Middlebrooks to fly out before Marlon Byrd got on via an error. Mike Aviles ended up doubling to the wall in what looked like would be the game winner. Not so fast. Perfect relay ended with J.J. Hardy gunning out Byrd at home.Quite a fantastic play. Orioles hang a 3 spot in the top of the 17th and that sets up Chris Davis to get his first career win. A single and a walk to the first two Sox put guys on, but a strikeout swinging (imagine striking out to Davis) and then a double play wrapped up probably my favorite win of 2012. What a gutty performance on the mound by the maybe soon DFA'D Chris Davis.
