I Love The State Of The Art Technology The NFL Uses For It's Most Important Decisions

The NFL truly is something special. It’s an unstoppable rocketship where no matter what happens, it only moves forward and gets bigger and richer. The games get more unwatchable and the owners get richer and richer. It shouldn’t make sense but America loves football and there’s no two ways about it. And with all that money, nearly $16 billion in revenue last year, comes the state of the art technology the league invests in to prosper. If they were still doing things the way they were done in the 1950’s, the NFL wouldn’t be as massive as it is today. So thank goodness the NFL invests heavily in state of the art laser technology for the most vital parts of the…

Wait a god damn minute! What is that! Ref playing Eeny Meeny Miney Mo on where to place the ball. Dude had no idea where to spot it. Not in the least.

And you know what? I love that about football. Not even joking. It keeps it pure to me. Keeps it backyard style, how you played growing up. With all the advancements in technology, all the reviews and replays, I love that key decisions come down to a 55 year old, part-time official’s best guess. It’s how it was before replay technology, and it’s endearing that it still exists now. And the law of averages say every team should benefit equally from refs just guessing where to spot the ball, so it’s all good.

It’s going to be a sad day next season when the Raiders no longer line up to play a game on a baseball field

But at least we’ll still have refs on acid deciding wildly if a run went for a 1st down or not. And that I will treasure.
