Major League Baseball Has A Serious Yu Darvish Problem

DID YOU KNOW

Yu Davish is significantly better on the road vs. at home? Line away = 3.09 ERA, 93 innings, 66 hits, 120 strikeouts vs. 28 walks, 1.000 WHIP and .639 OPS against. At home = 5.14 ERA, 1.257 WHIP, a lot less strikeouts and .760 OPS against.

I used to work in sales and they’d say you want to open meetings POWERFULLY and a good way to do that is an interesting fact, quote or story. So there’s your powerful opener. Darvish on the road is a fucking animal aka the guy who would start the wild card game.

Hold on – we’re talking wild card game.

Back to Yu and more specifically his last 4 starts

Screen Shot 2019-09-13 at 7.58.40 AMNothing but pure sex from the big fella. Those are elite numbers that naturally deserve a huge contract, so good thing he gets paid a lot. He deserves it at this pace and it makes me want to circle back on those 14K’s yesterday

According to the smartest guys in every room…

That’s a significant accomplishment and for the 1,000th time it all has to do with Darvish intentionally being more aggressive in the strike zone for hitters. When you’re as naturally talented as Darvish – like learning a plus-knuckle curve in a week – then you really don’t need to be that cute. It’s like the super hot bitchy girl that doesn’t need to try very hard or be nice to anyone because she’s super hot and that’s how the world works.

Same thing with Yu Darvish. He doesn’t need to dance around the strike zone and get you to swing OVER pitches because he can straight up challenge almost any hitter and win.

Kudos to Yu for cracking that code before his contract expired. Now the real threat: Will He Opt Out?

You’re a moron Carl

Look at his second half!

Just nasty stuff:

What else:

– Joe Maddon is probably not coming back. I wrote a blog about it yesterday.

– Rizzo leading off is a must at this point. We have exhausted all options.

– I don’t think Kimbrel will be back this homestand

– Javy won’t be back this year

– Kris Bryant may not be back after this year

– Nico Hoerner is notably worse in the field – like watching college basketball than the NBA – but you have to give his at bats credit. Love his fit right now.

– Finally, lucky shirts are very real and we are 1-0 with the new guy. Don’t be the loser without a lucky shirt.
