German Coach Losing His Mind On A Ref While Mic'd Up Is Another Example That The NHL Should Mic All Coaches
I have said it once and I’ll say it again, if hockey wants to boost their ratings it’s time to start mic’ing up players and coaches. The latest incident to prove this notion occurred this past weekend when EHC Red Bull Munich of the German Pro League played HC Ambrì-Piotta of the Swiss League in the Champions Hockey League Tournament in Europe. The two teams played a close game that actually saw Munich win in a shootout, but there was a clock malfunction which lead to Munich’s coach, Don Jackson, losing his fucking mind.
Allegedly, Munich was playing in Switzerland and the scorekeeper held the clock for an extra 10 seconds. The coach then asked the refs to go fix the problem. The ref returned to tell the coach it was fine and nothing happened. The coach then lost his fucking mind on the ref, telling him to basically go fuck himself and added a broken clipboard to the mix.
Jackson, the HC of Red Bull Munich, played 300+ games in the NHL from 1978 to 1987, so he has been around the block a few times and seen his fair share of hockey. The Minnesota native has been the Head Coach in Munich since 2014 and won the DHL championship in 2016, 2017, and 2018 so he’s no slouch to international play either.
Imagine if we could get Torts mic’d up on a nightly basis? If we can’t get players mic’d up I think a coach mic’d would certainly suffice. It’s a no brainer for the NHL after watching this clip. Let’s get some lav mics on these coaches and let chaos ensue.
