Khabib Was Who We Thought He Was - Mauls Dustin Poirier For An Easy Victory In Abu Dhabi

Today, in Abu Dhabi, the boogeyman did what the boogeyman does.

Khabib Nurmagomedov just successfully defended his UFC Lightweight Championship – and unified the belts – over Dustin Poirier, getting the tap to a rear-naked choke in the third round. Poirier tried to find his reach for a bit in the first to no avail, quickly getting taken down and smothered, and then found some success in coming forward and swinging (sort’ve wildly) in the second…before he was taken down and smothered. In the third, Khabib shot for a takedown and got caught in a guillotine choke that actually looked promising, but he powered his way out (probably thanks to the god damn heat), and quickly got a choke of his own that finished the fight in the moments that followed. It was a smeshing for the ages, as all of Khabib’s fights are.

Poor Dustin Poirier was just about as helpless as anybody has ever been on this planet from the jump, and spent 90% of his time in the cage looking up at his corner wondering what he should he doing. He never really had a chance, and I don’t know if anybody does. I guess we’ll see, though, because Tony Ferguson is next in line, and if anybody is gonna do it, I think it might be him. Don’t be surprised if McGregor gets Poirier next, either.

At the end of the day, we got some pretty good fights, won some money…

…and had a blast in the Barstool Bets Gambling Cave, so it ain’t all bad.

BlackJack, Glenny Balls, and a bunch of others are going to keep the stream going all night, so make sure ya tune in and ride/fade along!
