Movie Trailer Roundup - Sept 6th

Best movie trailers of the week

1. Jojo Rabbit (Trailer #2)

I loved the first trailer quite a bit, but this is much better. We now have a much clearer grasp on the scope of the movie and I still cannot wait. Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) is starring in addition to having directed and and adapted the script. This also stars newcomer Roman Griffin Davis alongside Thomasin McKenzie (Leave no Trace), Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Scarlett Johansson (Avengers), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones) and Stephen Merchant (Life’s Too Short).

2. Between 2 Ferns

This looks maybe bad but I am a total sucker for cameo stuff. It stars Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell with cameos from Keanu Reeves, Matthew McConaughey, Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Tessa Thompson (Thor Ragnarok), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) Adam Scott (Step Brothers), and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).

3. Just Mercy

I’m a sucker for wrongful conviction stories. I think the nation sort of agrees when you think of how stuff like “Making a Murderer” captured the country. This follows the real life story of attorney Bryan Stevenson and stars Michael B. Jordan (Creed), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Jamie Foxx, Rafe Spall (Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom) O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) and Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou). It’s written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton who will direct Shang-Chi.

4. Bad Boys for Life

5. Gretel & Hansel

Ok. I’m not a horror guy but it actually looks very well shot which is a welcome change. It stars Sophia Lillis from “It” so that’s something, I guess.

6. Waves

It’s A24 so I’m already putting this into oscar contention. It looks as beautiful and moving as all their movies are, so I cant wait. Sterling K. Brown is the ultimate cry master. It stars him and Lucas Hedges (Manchester By The Sea) as well as Clifton Collins (Capote). Trey Edward Shults (It Comes At Night) wrote and directed.
