I'm Going To Need A&M To Stop Promising A W Over Clemson
NOOOOOO BABYYY, what is you doinnnnnn???
Listen, I’m all for confidence going into a big game. And I can’t hate Jared Hocker having the balls to say something like this knowing that every Aggie fan across the country is going to eat it up. It gets the people going.
But you know what normally happens in these bulletin board material situations? Ask anybody who has guaranteed a victory over the Patriots over the years. Ask the assholes – not named Clemson – who hold “WE WANT BAMA” signs in the stands. Ask the Yankees yelling “We Want Boston” last year before the ALDS. Ask Jalen Ramsey. Rex Ryan. Ask Brandon Walker who guaranteed Dave and Dan that Mississippi State would cover this weekend.
It just never works out.
Of course, it’s not CRAZY to think A&M could win this game. They’re a top 15 team. They have the talent and the coaching staff to get it done.
Plus – for those not paying attention – the Ags only lost by two last year to the eventual national champions. Sure, it was a night game at Kyle Field. Sure, Kelly Bryant was the main reason they won that game and he’s currently playing for the worst team in the country. (That’s called irrationally lashing out. Thanks for nothing, Mizzou.) Sure, circumstances may be a tad different this year.
But sure, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that there could be an upset on Saturday.
I just HATE bulletin board material when it’s at the expense of the teams I root for. I loathe it actually. Just go out on the field, score more points and shove it in everybody’s faces after you get the W. You know, like a humble person would do.
Obviously, if this works out in my favor, I will eat all the crow. I’ll give Jared Hocker credit. He’ll be able to say whatever the hell he wants. Hell, he could wear a “WE WANT BAMA” shirt every single day until kingdom come and I wouldn’t care. It’s just a really tall task to basically use the G-word against Clemson and the probable Heisman trophy winner.
Yes, I realize I’m being negative. But growing up an Aggie fan, I learned at a very young age the condition I was going to be affected by my entire life. That my friends is a little something I like to call ‘Battered Aggie Syndrome.’
Oh, A&M hasn’t won a National Championship since 1939? They haven’t won a conference title since 1998? They’ve been middle of the pack in both the Big 12 and SEC almost every year except Johnny’s Heisman year where they didn’t even make a BCS bowl?
Tell me something I don’t know. Troll better.
With all that being said, I really like what Jimbo has cookin’ down in College Station and I am STOKED to be at Death Valley this weekend. The CFB Show is going live at 1 and then will be heading into the stadium to watch one of the biggest matchups of the weekend. It’s going to be electric. I just really wish that (basically) G-word wasn’t thrown around.

But maybe that’s just the B.A.S. in me.
See yall on Saturday!
