Wild New Trailer For Taika Waititi's Satirical Nazi/Hitler Movie

This continues to be the fucking craziest looking movie of 2019.

Lonely German boy Jojo “Rabbit” Betzler (Roman Griffin Davis) has his world view turned upside down when he discovers that his single mother Rosie (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

Taika Waititi, as I have said many times before, is a genius. From ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ to ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ and more, the New Zealander has an amazing ability to pump out creative, unique and hilarious material. He took a very bland, boring and drab Thor and franchise and turned it into this…

If he can turn that disastrous franchise into one of the most beloved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surely he can deliver an awesome political satire (especially when given such a killer cast).

What is good to see is that it appears the movie is still going to be released. There were rumors a few weeks back saying that Disney was a bit worried about releasing this movie (it falls under their umbrella following the Fox acquisition)…

According to Variety, the Nazi subject matter at the heart of “Jojo Rabbit” is worrying some Disney executives. Variety’s report reads: “The scathing takedown of Nazism may, however, prove a little too edgy for Disney brass accustomed to producing movies suitable for parents and kids. Searchlight has started to screen the film for its new parent company. Halfway through one recent viewing one executive grew audibly uncomfortable, worrying aloud that the material would alienate Disney fans.” (via IndieWire)

Let’s state the obvious… that is fucking absurd and ridiculous. But, I’ll move on for now, because ‘Jojo Rabbit’ is primed to hit theaters October 17th later this year.
