Time To Separate The Men From The Boys

This is the biggest series of the season for us hands down. Until the next one, of course. In all seriousness, we’re heading into a 4 game set at home against a hot Red Sox team that just put it on the Tigers in a bad way, and we NEED these wins. The Rays are wrapping up against the Angels and heading up to play the just-as-bad Mariners while we play the team with the best record in the AL. We basically gotta assume Tampa Bay is taking 3 of the next 4, so we have to do the same to maintain control of our own destiny.

The key to this series is going to be getting off to a quick start tonight for Nova. If he can keep the scoreboard clean for 7 innings and let our hot hitting as of late lineup do their job, we’re in good shape. Obviously thats over simplifying things, but after that we have Pettitte – one of the best big game pitchers in history – followed by Huff and his 1.13 era. A slumping Kuroda in the finale but he’s due to snap out of it. If Nova sets the tone and the bats stay hot, the rest should fall into place. Obviously every series against every team is important right now to stay in the playoff hunt, but this showdown with Boston is a chance to make a statement. Its a chance to establish that we’re back at full strength and a force to be reckoned with. Beat the Sox now and secure our place at the table.

That just leaves one big question. Who from the Sox is taking one in the ear for Dempster, and when? That pussy is going to be hiding in the dugout all series long but he woke this team up, and if one of these games get out of hand the whole Sox lineup better duck.
