Is Luke Willson Out Of His Maple Syrup Guzzling Mind For Saying Drake And Wayne Gretzky Are On The Same Level In Canada?

My biggest fear here isn’t that Luke Willson has taken so many head shots that he no longer has any idea what he’s saying. My biggest fear is that he might be accurate. And if that is actually the case? Well then the Canada that we all once knew and loved is over. It’s done. It’s finished. Because if this new generation of Canucks are out here thinking it’s acceptable behavior to even mention Drake’s name in the same sentence as The Great One, the future of Canada seems mighty bleak.

Wayne Gretzky is the most influential and important figure in Canadian history. I’d be willing to say that without Wayne Gretzky, there is no Canada. It would just be called “Really Cold United States”. But the Great One put Canada on the map. Who is Drake? He’s a guy who has some pretty good songs, is annoying as fuck at Raptors games, and was on a Nickelodeon show. Ummmm….okay? I mean don’t get me wrong, Drake has put out plenty of heaters. But Wayne Gretzky is the greatest to ever do it, and it’s not even close. Wayne Gretzky could have never scored a goal in his entire NHL playing career and he’d still be the all-time points leader. But just for good measure, he also has the most career goals in NHL history. 10 Art Ross Trophies. 9 Hart Trophies. These are records that will never be touched. And Luke Willson wants to say that the kid from Degrassi is more important to Canada just because he was a fan of a team that won the NBA Championship?

I’m sorry but no friggin’ way, ya hoser.

I get it. Drake is hot in the streets right now and Canadians are still running high off that Raptors championship. But that would be like saying Soulja Boy is more important to American history than George Washington. If you’d like to make a comparison between Drake and a guy like Sidney Crosby? I’d be willing to entertain that discussion. But even then, Sid scored the golden goal in Vancouver, has 2 Olympic gold medals, a World Juniors gold medal, a World Championship gold medal, and a World Cup of Hockey gold medal. So without even taking his NHL career into consideration, you still have to give the edge to Crosby over Drake.

So here’s to hoping that this was just another whacky made up storyline from Luke Willson. It’s the only way that any of this could possibly make any sense.
