What were the Skins supposed to do here? He’s not worth 11.5 million dollars. But the Skins couldn’t let him go. A catch 22 if you will. Can’t afford to keep him, can’t afford to let him walk. The things he does well is apply pressure and chase around the QB. Should get double digit sacks based on his freakish athleticism alone. I don’t get the people who hate him. He’s good. His stats since entering the year have been nothing short of solid, while playing under a shitty D-Coordinator:
Just not sure he’s 11.5 million dollars good. Especially because it’s a ton of their salary cap going to him. For every good part of this deal, there is a part you can poo poo. It’s a weak free agent year, and the Skins did what they needed to do to keep an important part of the defense around. Good move by them.
At the end of the day, I’m glad he’s sticking around, but it will be interesting to see what happens now. He wants that huge, career-defining contract. The long term deal. Is he a cornerstone guy? Yet to be seen. He still had 10 sacks last season while coming off an injury. But if he puts all the pieces come together, and he has an insane year, how can you not pay him? And if he has another decent/average year, hopefully he signs a decent contract and continues working towards that contract.
The guy is a beast. I like him and how he plays. And he seems to love going out there and tearing it up. Glad to have him back.
