Bryan Cranston Cast As Lex Luthor In The Ben Affleck Batman

Rolling StoneAfter five seasons of playing Walter White, the chemist-turned-meth-kingpin on AMC’s Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston has racked up plenty of evil-doer experience. And according to report from Cosmic Book News, he’ll boost his villain credentials even further by playing Superman nemesis Lex Luthor in the upcoming sequel for Man of Steel. Cranston has reportedly signed a deal that includes at least six appearances (and possibly more), meaning that his character will appear in a variety of films set within the inter-connected DC Comics universe.  “Cranston is truly a dream casting for Luthor,” a source told Cosmic Book News. This news follows last week’s controversial announcement that Ben Affleck has signed on to play Batman in the same film. The actor reportedly inked a deal that includes 13 total appearances.

Walter White. Lex Luthor. My nerd boner is practically ripping right through my Superman PJs right now. Just the perfect casting job. Hard to imagine the same guys who picked Ben Affleck for Batman was able to knock Lex Luthor out of the fucking park. Gene Hackman is pretty much the only Lex Luthor that has ever been worthwhile. Its pains me to say that the second best was probably that dude from Smallville. Kevin Spacey wasnt a bad choice but that Superman Returns movie pretty much sucked so he doesn’t count. Really its just Hackman. He’s the only competition.

Cranston will be like the new age Luthor the same way Heath Ledger did the Joker. Like everyone loved Nicholson and thought he couldn’t be topped and Ledger came along with that dark, psychotic version and blew it out of the water. If the new Superman movies want a dude who can be that diabolical mastermind manipulator, Bryan Cranston is that dude.

PS – How about Affleck signing on for THIRTEEN appearances?? Warner Bros better hope people get over this Ben Affleck backlash because they put all their eggs in that basket.

This concludes the whitest blog in Bastool Sports history.
