Brady said, “I like to stay classic.” …“I still love playing my sport,” he said. “I’m motivated to keep pushing myself to extremes and testing my limits. When people say, ‘You can’t, you can’t,’ I want to prove them wrong and me right.” …
He continued: “I’m a very authentic person, and a very positive and optimistic person. I’ve learned a lot that I can share with the next generation of athletes and young men.”
Some of that advice might revolve around fashion. Brady is also known for his personal style, which he describes as “very functional — I dress for the occasion.”
But will there ever be a Tom Brady fashion collection? The quarterback didn’t exactly rule it out.
“I don’t know what the future holds,” he said. “I have several things in the works that I can’t talk about now, and I don’t know if they’ll come to fruition, but I’m excited to find something to challenge me in my second career. I’m just not sure when that’ll happen.”
Quarterback. Champion. Icon. Model. Fitness mogul. Pliability pioneer. Documentary film producer. Cliff diver. Connoisseur of haute horlogerie. Personally, I’m a guy also likes to stay classic. And my personal style also involves being very functional and dressing for the occasion. And since most of my time involves sitting around by myself banging the alphabet into a keyboard with my scrawny monkey paws, 90% of the time that functional style is wearing Barstool Patriots t-shirts and flip flops. And the only watch I’ve owned for the last 15 years is the $9 plastic one with a big digital display I got at WalMart to time my set when I’m working a comedy club. Why anyone wears a watch in an age where you’ve got the exact time perpetually displayed on the rectangle you stare at every waking minute is beyond me.
But I can guaran-damn-tee you that if Tom Brady comes out with a fashion line, that’ll all change in a nanosecond. If he’s a connoisseur of haute horlogerie, I’m a connoisseur of haute horlogerie. And I’ll fight to the death any man who isn’t.
So the fashion world is on notice. All those designers had better start saving their money. Gisele has competition. Because when he finally decides to come at them full bore, he’s going to tear them to shreds like they’re the Zone Blitz. He is not getting into that line of work just to be a System Fashion Tycoon.
But that’s for down the road. Because he’s got people saying “You can’t, you can’t,” that he’s to prove wrong and him right. By the way he’s talking about mentoring his young teammates, I’d say his conquest of designer fashion won’t begin for another 12 years or so. Because watches will always be Tom Brady’s second favorite kind of jewelry to collect.
