Flyers - Isles MLK Day Matinee LIVE BLOG: I Have A Dream
Flyers 4, Islanders 7 (Final)
I, too, have a dream. And that dream is that one day Matt Read will remember how to hockey again. I have a dream that one day, the Flyers won’t grossly overpay irrelevant defensemen. I have a dream that one day little Flyers fans will be able to go to little Penguins fans and say “2009”. I have a dream today. Now let’s watch some hockey and enjoy some delicious Tastykakes. BOOYAH. We’re live bloggin’.
12:55 pm: Cracks open first pack of Tastykakes. Live Blog officially commenced.
1st Period:
– You’ll never believe that Carlo Colaiacovo was on the ice for the Isles first snip of the game. As it would turn out, Zeppatitis C’s glove is not as quick as Julie The Cat’s. Oh well. 1-0 Islanders.
– Flyers down 2-0 less than 10 minutes through the first period and Jordie needs another pack of Tastykakes…
– Mr. Robert Zepp III is good down low. Despite a slow glove, he’s still the best 33-year-old rookie in the league.

2nd Period:
– How could this game possibly get any worse? If you guessed “giving up a shorthanded breakaway goal as a result of a Matt Read turnover”, give yourself a pat on the back. I want to die.
– Holy shit the Flyers finally did a thing. Marky Mark Streit for a case of Tastykakes on the
– Well the good feels didn’t last long. Isles on the sort of powerplay sort of not powerplay. Penalty just expired. Doesn’t really matter either way. 4-1 Isles. Emery comes in for Zepp for MLK Day. Everything sucks. Life is meaningless.
– BEST MLK DAY EVER. Del Zotto scores for the most glorious case of Tastykakes the world has ever seen. In MDZ’s Lettuce We Trust. I’m so wet right now.
– John Tavares on the PP in the final seconds of the 2nd period. He’s good at ice hockey. Your thoughts?
2nd period analysis: When’s the last time a team had a player win the Art Ross trophy and then got a top 3 draft pick that summer? Could the Flyers make some ice hockey history?
3rd Period:
– Captain Claude. Tastykakes. Somehow we have a game on our hands with a ton of time still left in the 3rd.
– Nvm. Isles score again. Barring an MLK Day miracle where Eric Lindros comes out of the locker room like Dean Portman at the end of Mighty Ducks D3, this game is over.
– FWIW: VandeVelde scores to make it 6-4. He’s been on a tear lately while I don’t fully understand it, I love it.
