Woman Who Was Living In A Walmart For 2 Days Finally Gets Evicted
GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police had to kick out a 45-year-old woman living at a local Walmart in small-town Michigan after she had been living there for days. According to WNEM in Saginaw, Mich., the woman had been living at the Grand Blanc, Mich., store for two days before she was asked to leave by employees. When she refused, they called police…The woman had been living with her son in Grand Blanc until he kicked her out because of a drinking problem, police told WNEM.
The “such and such person was caught living in a Walmart” story isn’t quite as rare of a story as you’d hope to imagine. And that’s pretty worrisome to me. Not because people living inside of a store is a bad thing. I think we’ve all, at some point or another, fantasized about hiding when the mall closed and then having the place to ourselves. But what’s worrisome is that all these people are picking Walmart to stay at. Out of all the places in the world, they go with Walmart. And believe me, I realize that Walmart has everything you’d ever need to survive if you were living in some post-Apocalyptic world. But you have to imagine you can’t live in a store forever. You have 2-3 days, tops. So why not treat yourself a little? Why not post up at a Wegman’s and grub out for 48 hours? Or pack your own lunch and hang out at a Raymour & Flanigan to be homeless in luxury? If you’re going away for anything longer than a week, sure, Walmart is a great choice. But take advantage of the short vacation and stop being so poor, people. C’mon.
