First Live-Action 'Mulan' Trailer Released

This is a very different type of adaptation for Disney compared to the likes of ‘Aladdin’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and this month’s ‘The Lion King’ release.

The 1998 animated movie was based on the legendary Chinese warrior Hua Mulan with a heavy, heavy dosage of Disney-ization. With the live-action movie, releasing next year, a far grittier, grounded adaption of the story will be told on the big screen.

Eddie Murphy’s Mushu?

Reportedly gone.

The memorable soundtrack and its popular track “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You”?

Gone.

I don’t hate the move at all. Disney is going to be releasing over a dozen live-action re-makes over the next 5-10 years. That’s insanity. Changing up this animated classic and giving audiences a different twist is appreciated, especially since they aren’t going to stop making these cash-cows movies.

The one thing that I can almost guarantee you will return? McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce.

There’s no chance the Golden Arches will pass up on the opportunity to cash in on the craze once again, especially after the Rick and Morty fiasco with the sauce a few years ago.

SIDE NOTE: I still can’t believe this is a graphic that actually got sent out on Twitter today… it’s mesmerizing.
