(Source) From “I’ll love you forever …” to dead silence. That’s how Tesla Motors Inc. TSLA, -1.32%  Chief Executive Elon Musk treated news that he and Talulah Riley are divorcing for a second time. The man who also founded PayPal and SpaceX and his British actress wife had previously split in January 2012, which is when he authored this heartfelt (but since deleted) tweet: “It was an amazing four years. I will love you forever. You will make someone very happy one day.” Eighteen months later, they were back together.

But as of New Year’s Eve 2014, the couple had filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to the Associated Press and other media outlets. A statement released by both, which MarketWatch has been unable to obtain, reportedly described the split as amicable and said Riley will get $16 million in cash and other assets as part of a financial settlement. That’s far more than the $4.2 million she was said to have received the first time around. In any case, $16 million isn’t much for the man whose combined SolarCity and Tesla holdings are valued at about $7 billion — down, though they are, from $8.2 billion as oil prices have plunged. This isn’t his second divorce. He also split in 2008 from sci-fi novelist Justine Musk, with whom he has five sons. And that parting was pretty public, marked by blog posts from both parties. So on Jan. 1, it was business as usual from Elon:

16 million dollars after giving up 4.2 million 2 years ago???? WHAT?

In all seriousness though I don’t even know what side I’m on here. Something about paying 4 million to your ex-wife then having to pay 16 million 2 years later because you got a little horny and called her up for a little sucky sucky on a saturday night seems wrong. That should be a one time payment. You pay for the divorce once, after that, all bets are off. But on the flip side you can’t blame Elon Musk’s wife either. That’s just called opportunism. Re-marry a dude, best case you find love again and live happily ever after, worst case it fails and you get a fat check. Win-Win. Maybe next time try a pre-nup Elon? Or just jerk off before you thinking about proposing to another chick and handing away millions.
