This is pretty par for the course now in the Orioles organization. Worst record in baseball, on track to get that 1.1 pick next year, and their Triple A team, the Norfolk Tides hits us with this beauty last night.
Anderson Feliz is in right field when Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders infielder and former Orioles legend Breyvic Valera hits a double and drives in the game tying run. Should be easy enough, right? Wrong. Feliz thought the tying run was the game winning run, so he proceeds to try and make someones day and tosses the ball into the crowd to a fan. J.R. Smith thinks Feliz not knowing the score is insane. Valera skirts all the way around the bases and is awarded home and scores the actual game winning run. One of the strangest walkoffs I’ve ever seen. I mean it’s not surprising an Orioles affiliate could lose in this fashion, I’m actually surprised the Birds haven’t lost like this.
Terrible awareness by Anderson Feliz. You could tell he thought that was the walkoff from the time the ball landed. He’s jogging, thinking about what movie he’s gonna watch back in the hotel. That game ended about 3 innings ago according to him. Look at Austin Wynns, the Tides catcher, too. He’s hopping up and down and trying to get Feliz’s attention, but it’s too late. Damage has been done. Game over, RailRiders win. Another awesome performance by the Orioles and their affiliates!
PS. Great tweet by the RailRiders. They get it.
