OK so maybe a light jog but let’s not focus on specifics. This wasn’t something Smart was able to do a few days ago so you bet your ass I’m giddy. Sure this may not seem like much but it sure as shit is better than not seeing him do work on a treadmill. Listen I’m no doctor, I didn’t even stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but if there’s one thing I specialize in it’s overreacting to injured Celtics workout videos. It really doesn’t take much for my brain to start to go to optimistic places for better or worse. I know torn obliques are no joke and that you have to be overly cautious and that we’re only 2 weeks into his recovery but listen the tape doesn’t lie. That looks like progress to me and I’m starting to think maybe they underestimated how fast Marcus Smart was going to will his body into healing itself.
In reality he’s probably still miles away from even playing competitive basketball but that’s OK. Last time I checked we still have a shit ton of time before Game 1 this weekend. All I really want is for Smart to be back at some point in this series, preferably in the first four games. Last year he was out until Game 4 against MIL and things were OK, and I’d rather not have to worry about it for much longer than that this time around.
Now if that running video didn’t get your blood flowing, there’s more
I know we’ve been down this road before with injury videos (cough cough Gordon Hayward), but everyone knows you have to speak things into existence if you want them to happen. That’s why collectively we all have to put out positive vibes for the next few weeks that it’s only a matter of time before this is back in our lives
