There's No Way Adam Silver Believes His Own Bullshit When It Comes To Tampering

Obviously you can’t expect Adam Silver to come out and say “yeah, tampering is a HUGE issue that we have absolutely no idea how to stop”, so his answer here was rather predictable. The only problem is everyone with a brain knows it’s complete bullshit. I also think it’s important to mention that he sort of danced around this question. Chris Mannix asked him if he felt like tampering was a significant problem that the league has to deal with, and instead of telling the truth he changed the narrative to whether or not it’s worse than it had been in the past. That’s not the question, the question was if tampering is a serious problem and the fact that Silver sort of dodged it tells you all you need to know.

My favorite part is when he said this:

“If we find out as the league that a player was acting as the agent for a team, that would be very different. Meaning Player X was told by his team go out and talk to this guy about the following things, that’s clearly tampering”

Oh….weird, has that happened recently?

It’s hard to say. The more you hear him try and bullshit is way through that answer the more he keeps going back to this idea that’s it no worse than it was historically. That doesn’t mean it’s not a gigantic problem Adam that is seriously jeopardizing the credibility of your league. It’s not just LeBron and the Lakers either, what about what happened in New York?

Not to mention the rumors about this “secret dinner” that happened between Durant and the Knicks earlier this year. The point is there’s no way Adam Silver believes what he says here, or he thinks we’re all just too dumb to see what’s happening right in front of our faces. Personally, I could give a shit about tampering. I say let things be the Wild West. It’s not as if it doesn’t happen already, so who cares? Players tamper with players, teams tamper with players and agents, that’s the reality of the league whether Silver wants to admit it or not. It’s clear the fines don’t do a damn think to prevent it because what’s a couple hundred thousand dollars if it brings you an All Star talent and makes you a championship contender? Owners will pay that every single time.

So sorry Adam, I’m not buying your bullshit on this one.
