Maybe Now Jennifer Will Finally Cut CJ McCollum Some Slack

This right here is why the internet rules. The Blazers were coming off a big time postseason win over the Thunder, their first in a while after getting swept in the first round last season and one of the first questions CJ McCollum gets is about Jennifer. You remember Jennifer right? Back in August we had this little interaction

Now Jennifer was being a little harsh, CJ had been a part of 6 of the 11 wins the Blazers have had during his time in POR. Last year they got swept by the Pelicans and that was bad, but it wasn’t as bad as she was making it out to be. Plus, since becoming a regular rotation player McCollum has actually been pretty good in the postseason so it’s not exactly like he’s the one to blame for their struggles this time of year. You could see when he was asked about Jennifer it took CJ a minute to remember that whole interaction from the summer, but I thought it was a great moment that makes sports in 2019 so cool. It’s pretty crazy that an NBA player is being asked about some random interaction on Twitter from way back in August, but that sort of connection to the fans is what makes things different nowadays.

Who knows, maybe deep down in his subconscious CJ was always working a little bit harder to handle Jennifer’s request. If I’m a Blazer fan I’ll take anything I can get because being up 1-0 against a team you went 0-4 against during the regular season is a great start. If Jennifer deserves some of the credit for that, well then so be it. This was their first playoff win since 2016, and I can’t help but think Jennifer in some way had something to do with it.
