April 13th, 2019, the day that Chris Davis finally got his first hit of the 2019 season. Where were you? I was putting ribs in the smoker and almost threw them off the deck I was so happy. It's nice here in Baltimore so people have their windows open. I heard children cheering, women were crying, men were calling their fathers, this is something NONE of us will ever forget. A 2-run single off of Rick Porcello has never meant more. Of course it was Porcello giving it up too, it just had to be. Now that he finally got the monkey off his back I expect him to go on a 2013 like tear, watch out AL East.

But in all seriousness, good for Davis. He obviously has struggled a ton since 2015 and no one ever wants to go through this. I thought Dallas Braden summed it up perfectly on this week's Starting 9. No one wants to have these struggles, these demons. He makes a shit ton of money but it wears on you, especially with a streak this long. The 0-54 hitless at-bats and 0-62 plate appearances is over, he's now 1 for his last 1. I also saw that he asked for the ball, send that bad boy to Cooperstown. Congrats on your very first hit of the 2019 season, Chris. Pop some champagne you animal!
