Giants 2013 Schedule Released
Interesting schedule. The first thing that jumped out at me after I looked to find the Manning Bowl was that they don’t face the Skins until December. So much for a shot at Kirk Cousins & a free division W…unless RG3 is concussed again by then. Also, although the bye week splits the season down the middle nicely, hosting Oakland is a waste of a post-bye game. Having 2 weeks for a tougher opponent would’ve been ideal.
Outside of that, it’s actually a pretty favorable calendar if Big Blue plan to be a big dick-swinger in the NFC. Take the division games out – let’s be modest and chalk up a .500 record. Their remaining home games (besides Oakland) are their toughest competition. Getting DEN, MIN, GB & SEA all at MetLife sure as shit beats those games on the road though, and if the G-Men plan to make noise, these are their statement opportunities. MIN (3-5), GB (4-4) & SEA (3-5) are different teams when they gotta stay at a Holiday Inn.
Their road schedule is where the cupcakes are. Cutler & his sweater will be a challenge, but there’s no reason the Giants should give away more than 1 against the likes of CAR, KC, SD & DET if they play to their potential. Last season, they smashed their way through sub-.500 opponents with a 5-1 record & a 229-121 score.
Weeks 7-12 look set up for Big Blue to make an important run, with 4 of 5 at home plus the bye week. They have 11 days rest before hosting the reigning MVP on MNF Week 7, followed by a big visit to Philly to send them into their bye on a high. Then, 3 straight in front of their own fans against OAK, GB & DAL coming out of their week off.
Pretty easy to find 10 wins this year one way or another. I’m not gonna predict a Super Bowl or even the division, but Eli & Co. will be playing January football fo’ sho’.
