Ryan Reaves Laid A Hit And Then Tucked His Tail And Scurried Back To The Bench So He Wouldn't Catch Hands

NHL - Micheal Haley is a tough dude. There’s no question.

Haley wasn’t happy after Reaves destroyed Melker Karlsson with a big hit right in front of the San Jose Sharks bench in the first period of Friday’s meeting with Reaves’ Vegas Golden Knights.

Reaves took a quick look at his handy work before going off on a line change. Haley, who was also on the ice, didn’t seem to care and went after Reaves, throwing a punch at one of the toughest — if not the toughest — men in the NHL.

Haley ended up taking a roughing penalty on the play. Reaves got a good laugh in, seeming quite amused at the whole ordeal.

People keep sending me this and I wish they would stop. Not to say I don’t appreciate it, but I don’t want to see this as much as the next person doesn’t want to see this. I’m a fan of hockey. And not just that, I’m a fan of old school hockey. Toughness. Fighting. Grit. And so I hate, hate, HATE to see Ryan Reaves, the so called “toughest player in hockey” jump off the ice like that at the first sign of adversity. He laid the hit and then tucked his tail and jumped onto the bench to avoid any and all altercation. That’s not the Ryan Reaves people tell me about. That’s not the bad man. Instead of fighting Micheal Haley he scurried onto the bench door, looking petrified of catching Haley’s hands. Brutal look for Reaves. I wish this video was washed from the Internet so people didn’t have to see their hero like this. It’d be like Rone backing down from a rap battle. It’d be like Batman not saving Gotham. It’d be like Dave not gambling during March Madness.

I don’t know how Reaves will get his reputation back after this. I may not like the guy, but I understood why other people do. But now how can they after seeing this? Brutal look. Brutal, brutal, brutal.
