If Robert Whittaker Would've Fought Last Night And Been Punched In The Stomach, He Would've Died (Bonus: Medical Expertise From Matt Damon)

Original Post Date: February 11, 2019 – 7:00pm

As it turns out, a poorly-timed hernia wasn’t the only thing that forced UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker out of last night’s UFC 234 main event.

This is because – well, brace yourselves for a disgusting sentence here – the doctors opened that sucker up and realized that his colon and his intestine burst right through that stomach of his.

Gross!

Thankfully, it was caught before he entered the cage, though, because if he would’ve somehow competed and been punched in the stomach, he would’ve pretty much just dropped dead on the spot from the sounds of it, and we can’t have that happenin’ to Bobby Knuckles. His surgery went well other than that, though, and now we’ll get this bout re-scheduled, and in about 4-6 weeks, Whittaker should be able to return to training, yeah?

Yeah.

BUT NOT SO FAST, SAYS JASON BOURNE!

Due to his extensive time in the medical field, Matt Damon crunched some numbers and broke the harsh news to Dana White that Robert Whittaker would not, in fact, be able to make that 4-6 week recovery. What a shame. I was really hoping he’d be back in the gym by then.

Still, best of luck to Robert Whittaker. Very excited for him to get back in there.
