Sony Michel Just Wrapped Up The Best Rookie Postseason Of All Time

A lot of people owe Sony Michel an apology. Well mostly one person but I’m sure other people weren’t hot on Sony Digital after the first month of the season.

What did he do in the playoffs? Oh, nothing much. Just three games with 71 carries, 336 yards, good for 4.73 YPC and SIX touchdowns. Here is the full list of running backs who scored at least six touchdowns during a single playoff run.

None of them rookies. Only ONE with higher YPC. While we as Patriots fans bask in the collective greatness of this team I think it’s important to note that this wasn’t a regular three game stretch we just witnessed out of Sony Michel. Not even just as a rookie, but compared to legit Hall of Famers. That Terrell Davis run in ’97 is as legendary as they come and it’s the only individual performance that tops the production that Sony just put forth over this last month. There hasn’t been a rookie running back in New England with this much talent and production since Robert Edwards and Sony, along with Dante Scarnecchia the GAWD, deserve a whole lot of credit for shouldering the offensive load throughout this Super Bowl run.

Sony’s first 16 games as a pro (13 regular season + 3 postseason) – 280 rushes, 1,267 yards, 4.5 YPC, 12 TDs. It’s Always Sony In New England.
