Patriots Fans vs. Rams Fans is the Most One-Sided Battle in Human History

VS.

Every so often in history we encounter a situation where one force so dominates another as to almost make you want to question the existence of a fair and just god. Hannibal’s Carthaginians over the Romans at Cannae. Ghenghis Khan’s Mongols sweeping the Khwarazmian dynasty off the map and out of history. The Germans defeating the Red Army at Kiev. Mike Tyson vs. Peter McNeeley. The Death Star vs. Alderaan.

Today we witnessed yet another such moment, with the Patriots’ fanbase absolutely obliterating the Rams’ fanbase. Or to rephrase it, the beginning of one such moment, as this decisive, one-sided battle that began on opposite coasts is moving to Atlanta. And will continue all week.

Patriots fans are the most engaged, motivated, galvanized and energized group in all of pro sports. Nobody travels like they do. Nobody has a bigger grudge. And positively no one wants it more, in spite of all the success. The more the rest of the world claps at them and their team, the more they tighten their ranks, sound general quarters and report to battle stations. Even on their ninth Super Bowl send-off in just 18 years. Even at 4 AM.

If the Saints had made it – meaning if their was justice in this deeply flawed world – it would be a hell of a contest in Atlanta. That’s a fanbase that’s only been to one, and that was nine years ago. There’s nothing they would have loved better than to whip their dongs out and wave them around in the city of a hated rival, one that’s practically driving distance away. But a city like LA, that rejected this same team 20 years ago and never looked back? Where more people watched Pats-Chiefs than watched Rams-Saints:

It’s already embarrassing levels of dominance and it’s only going to get worse. To all the New Englanders landing in Atlanta today, say hi to Rams fans for us. If you can find one.
