The NBA All Star Starters Were Announced And Luka Doncic Got Screwed
After waiting all day, we finally have our starters from each conference for the 2019 All Star Game in Charlotte. I’ve blogged the progress of the fan voting results over the last few weeks and now we have the final results. As a reminder the fan vote accounted for 50% and the media/players 25%. These for the most part were fairly predictable heading into today, so let’s dive right in and start with the West
West All Star Starters
No surprise here. Leading vote getter among fans, best player on the planet, let’s keep it moving.
Well would you look who’s burners worked. They got him just enough of the fan vote to pass Paul George and that was that.
Oh no, does this mean what I think it means? George was 4th in fan voting so I’m a little surprised he made it, but I’m more afraid of what it means. Let’s keep going
Yeah, yeah no shit. Next
OK you know what this means right? It means Luka was fucked out of his starting spot. I know fan vote isn’t everything when it comes to this but it was pretty clear the people wanted to see him in the starting lineup. He had more votes than Paul George AND Kevin Durant in the most recent results. That is some bullshit and you cannot convince me otherwise. Poor Luka, all he does is bring us joy and you have to do him like that? Fucked up.

The guy could very well MVP, pretty sure we knew he was a lock
Oh cool you can still be an All Star starter even if you sit out a bunch of games. Nice work if you can get it
The sad thing is you know they dropped confetti for this. The Process is mostly a fraud so I’m happy the Sixers fans can celebrate this
No brainer. Extremely popular and having the best year of his career
Don’t let anyone tell you this is just because Kemba is the hometown guy. He is 100% worthy of an All Star starting spot because he’s having an All NBA caliber season in which he is carrying the Hornets essentially by himself. Plus this was an awesome moment
You know what this also means? That despite Dwyane Wade being second among fan votes, that the NBA did the right thing and didn’t make him a starter. You want to make him a reserve as a tribute, cool. If one of these guys wants to give him the starting spot once the game starts, fine. But Kemba deserved that spot and I won’t hear another word about it.
If you’re interested, here’s how the three voting categories ended up
Pretty interesting situation with guys like Anthony Davis losing out to Paul George primarily due to the fan vote. That’s tough when both players and media thought you were more deserving. I just feel the most for Luka. I want to know what the media and players have against him. Is it because he’s young? Who cares, the man almost overtook LEBRON JAMES in fan voting, that should have been enough for him to at least make the other two categories’ list. I get it Jokic is a monster but Luka is magic. I know he’ll still make the roster, but it still bothers me.
So who in your mind is the biggest snub? Remember they announce the rest of the rosters on January 31st and then the live draft is February 7th. The starters were mostly predictable, so the real debate is just a week away.
