Anthony Davis Reportedly Won't Ask For An In Season Trade And That Sound You Hear Is Danny Ainge Cumming Everywhere

New Orleans Pelicans v Los Angeles Clippers

(Bleacher Report) – New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis is reportedly set to make a “full evaluation” of his situation with the Pels during the upcoming offseason.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Davis hasn’t yet reached the point where he intends to request a trade this season.

Davis is dealing with a finger injury, and he could miss two to four weeks if a hand specialist diagnoses him with an avulsion fracture in his left index finger, per his agent, Rich Paul.

The 2019-20 season is Davis’ final year under contract with the Pelicans before he can opt out and become a free agent.

There has been no public indication regarding whether Davis plans to sign a long-term extension with the Pelicans or test the open market.

Suck on that LeBron you bitch! Have fun trading your assets for the Marc Gasol’s of the world that won’t make a lick of difference because Anthony Davis isn’t going anywhere (yet)! I have to say, this is great news. Once AD dumped his agent and joined LeBron’s agency I think we were all dreading the Shams/Woj bomb announcing they traded like JaVale McGee and trash to NO in order to bring Davis to LA. As a Celtics fan this was the worst case scenario since they’re currently being boned by the CBA and can’t make an offer until the summer once Kyrie has a new deal. Now we have reports that Davis is cool waiting until then to evaluate everything aka the Pelicans can see what Ainge will offer. Dare I say it,

If you are willing to take Davis at his word and I am, our biggest fear as Celtics fans can be put to bed. It’s no secret that the Celtics have the most attractive collection of assets compared to any other suitor, and now that they will have their chance to pitch Dell Demps is such a relief. Considering where the Pelicans are right now I think it’s pretty safe to say Davis will be turning down his extension which means the Pelicans have to move him. I’m not saying this news guarantees he’ll become a Celtic but what it does do is ensure they’ll at least be able to make a legit offer. Had he demanded a trade now, everything Ainge has done for the last 4-5 years would have been for nothing due to that stupid Rose Rule. Something tells me the conversation went something like this between AD and the front office

AD: “Yeah, I’m not signing that extension, this team stinks and you’re wasting my prime”

FO: “OK fine, but please say publicly that you are not demanding a trade yet so we can be sure to evaluate all of our options because we don’t want anything LeBron is asking us to take. Let’s see what Ainge has to offer first”

AD: “Sure”

I mean he 100% already knows what he’s going to do this summer. The Pelicans are 3 games out of the final playoff spot and are 3 games under .500. It doesn’t matter who they add at the deadline nothing is changing. Add to that the fact that AD may miss a month and it’s time to embrace the tank and blow it the hell up. This was the first hurdle Ainge had to make sure he got past and now that it appears he has, it’s full steam ahead. Danny usually gets what he wants, and it sure does look like all that recruiting may be working.

God do I love when a good plan comes together.
