Tony 'The Ant' Spilotro's Las Vegas Home That Was Portrayed In 'Casino' Is For Sale
Chicago Tribune - The Las Vegas home of legendary Chicago mob enforcer Tony “The Ant” Spilotro is for sale. Spilotro, who was portrayed by Joe Pesci in the 1995 film “Casino,” and his wife, Nancy, were the original owners of the single-story ranch-style home east of the Las Vegas Strip. Built in 1974, the property is considered modest today, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two-car garage. It’s offered for $419,900.
Seller David Stevens tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Spilotro was proud to have the biggest swimming pool in the neighborhood. The Mob Museum in Las Vegas says Spilotro was assigned to protect the illegal diversion of casino profits to Chicago organized crime. Spilotro and his brother, Michael Spilotro, were killed in 1986, and their bodies found in an Indiana cornfield.
You might know Tony Spilotro better as Nicky Santoro from Casino. He was played by Joe Pesci.
Anyway, if you’ve spent any time learning about the Chicago outfit you know that Tony Spilotro was one of the craziest motherfuckers that this city has ever seen. The stories hold that he was every bit as crazy as he was portrayed in the movie. He and his brother have gotta be just behind Capone as the most infamous gangsters in Chicago history.
It’s funny looking at those pictures of the house, and realizing how close Scorcese actually portrayed the thing in Casino. Like if you would’ve told me that it was the exact replica I for sure would have believed you. I can’t even imagine the kind of shit that went down at this place back in the day even though I know that’s not stopping some wannabe goombah in Elmwood Park from wanting to purchase it at this very second. He’s sitting in his basement calling all of his boys one by one telling them how they need to chip in to buy this thing as their Vegas Winter house. “Bro, it would be sick…Tony The Ant lived there. The rumor is that anybody who lives there still gets a comp limo to the Trop!”
P.S. – It gave me a good laugh when the article said that he was very proud of having the biggest swimming pool in the neighborhood. The guy had perks and possessions that some of us could never even dream of, but it was that swimming pool that he most cherished. I mean I do kinda get it though. He was probably in awe when he found out that he could get an in ground pool, and wasn’t restricted to the above ground horse shit that we are limited to in Chicago.
Also – I’m working on a few people, but it goes without saying any old school Chicago mob guys have an open invite to come on Chicago Dog Walk.
