The Minnesota Timberwolves Have Finally Fired Tom Thibodeau

FREE AT LAST! FREE AT LAST! KARL-ANTHONY TOWNS IS FREE AT LAST! Getting fired after smacking the Lakers by 22 is peculiar timing, but who cares? The Timberwolves can now move into their next era with Towns, RoCo, Saric, Okogie, and Canadian Jeff Green with a fresh direction and a less toxic locker room. Their next hire is pivotal to what they can accomplish with this core, since this is pretty much what they’re locked in to for the foreseeable future. But this is a move that was long overdue. Outside of the prime Rose years in Chicago, Thibs’ coaching style has long looked archaic and just has not gotten through to younger guys. He should latch on somewhere as an assistant coach after sitting out the rest of the year but I can’t imagine what kind of lunatic team would bring him on as a head coach again, LET ALONE giving him GM responsibilities on top of that.

Now it’s on Towns to take control of the franchise and max out his potential. Jimmy Butler is gone, Thibs is gone, it’s on him to lead here and now.
