Banks' Winter Olympics Blog: Friday February 14th
Thursday was a BIG day for the USA. Just the kind of momentum shift we needed. Collected 3 medals and a dominating performance to kick off the hockey tourney. We still sit a medal behind Norway, but I fully expect to surpass them by the end of the weekend at the latest.
Yeah, all 3 medals came from the same event. SKI SLOPESTYLE MOTHAFUCKAS! We dominate that shit. Joss Christiensen, Gus Kenworthy, and Nick Goepper won gold, silver, and bronze respectively.
Great 7-1 win over Slovakia yesterday. Caps’ blueliner John Carlson lead things off with an absolute MISSILE to put the Americans ahead in the 1st.
And picked up the primary assist when Dustin Brown kicked the extra point to extend the lead to 7-1. Love the non-celebration here. All business. Atta boy Carly.
Can’t knock Ryan McDonagh’s hustle.
Gonna be a rough tournament for Norway hockey…
Short-track speedskating is finally heating up!
Today’s edition of the Japanese hockey team doing Japanese hockey things.
At least Gilmore Junio has something to hang his hat on at the end of the day.
Wu Tang forever.
BULLSEYE!
Godzilla face.
So fierce.
This cat can play on my team any day. (h/t @ShupeDaFoop)
Man Down!
I’d eat shit too if I tried to ski with XXXXL pants around my knees.
Today I’m watching Women’s skeleton at noon. It’s luge, except headfirst. Frightening.
Britain’s Elizabeth Yarnold holds the lead at the halfway point, with American Noelle Pikus-Pace right on her heels. Kate Uhlaender of the US sits within striking distance in 4th. Great opportunity to pick up a couple more medals.
Today’s Smoke: Russian Curler Alexandra Saitova.
