Stephon Marbury Weighs In On The LeBron GOAT Debate And He's Making A Lot Of Sense

I ask you, find the lie? You may think Marbury is just high off Vaseline but let’s fact check his points. It’s true, LeBron does stink at FTs. He’s been a below 70% free throw shooter three times in his career, including this season where he’s coming in at a hot 68%. Just 73% average for his career. Everyone knows if you really can shoot, you can make FTs. Name a good shooter that stunk from the line like LeBron does. You can’t.

But what about his career 50% from the field? Certainly he must be able to shoot if he has an average that high. Not so fast! I’ll give James credit, he’s been better this season but everyone knows the key to beating LeBron is to let him take jumpers. The proof is in the pudding

2017-18: Shot 39% from 10ft-3P

2016-17: Shot 37% from 10ft-3P

2015-16: Shot 35% from 10ft-3P

2014-15: Shot 34% from 10ft-3P

2013-14: Shot 38% from 10ft-3P

2012-13: Shot 40% from 10ft-3P

Do I need to keep going? You get the idea. Now listen, I’m not here to say Marbury is the GOAT, if shooting is the qualification he’s a career 43/32% shooter so that ain’t it. Something tells me if you want to be the GOAT, you should learn how to shoot. The only flaw I can see in his argument was that Michael Jordan wasn’t all that great of a jump shooter either, but come on don’t let the facts get in the way of a good Marbury rant. He knows the GOAT when he sees one and according to him there’s no way LeBron can be the GOAT because he can’t teach kids how to shoot. Rock solid point there if you ask me.

Never change Stephon, never change
