Bruins Extinguish Flames For Third Straight Win
Don’t let the Bruins get hot! B’s have won three straight thanks to a 6-4 win over the Calgary flames last night at TD Garden.
(1st, 7:46): Michael Frolik opened the scoring, shorthanded. Yikes. 1-0 Flames.
(1st, 9:02): Johnny Moore tied the game on the PP two minutes later 1-1.
(1st, 14:19): Jake DeBrusk’s redirect gave the Bruins the 2-1 lead after 1.
(2nd, 1:05): Jaro Halak thought he had the puck covered, but no whistle came, Elias Lindholm taps it in to the game 2-2.
(2nd, 1:14): Torey Krug finds Brad Marchand, Bruins regained the 3-2 lead in the 2nd.
Michael Frolik gets hit by Kevan Miller, went after him and immediately wanted nothing to do with him. Laugh out loud funny.
(3rd, 0:54): Torey Krug with the 150 foot bank pass to David Pastrnak who finishes his 25th of the season. 4-2 Bruins.
(3rd, 9:27): Johnny Hockey from an absurd angle. Soft goal by Halak. 4-3 Bruins.
(3rd, 13:46): Jake DeBrusk’s 2nd of the game extended the Bruins lead to 5-3.
(3rd, 16:27): Mikael Backlund scored and the Flames were still hanging around late in the 3rd. 5-4 Bruins. Sick roof.
(3rd, 18:10): Brad Marchand’s empty netter sealed the deal for Boston. 6-4.
*note the above GIF is not his ENG, this is my mood after three straight wins, after the Bruins were in danger of falling out of playoff position last week*
FINAL: Boston 6, Calgary 4
News, notes and quotes.
- Jaro Halak made 27 saves, not his best night, not his worst. But he did pick up an apple on David Pastrnak’s goal. He has 3 points on the season, one more than Noel Acciari.
- Death, taxes, the Boston Bruins give up a shorthanded goal. They lead the league in letting in shortys with nine. NINE. Fucking unacceptable.
- The Bruins beat up on a really good Calgary Flames team. Johnny Hockey already has 61 points, and potted his 23rd of the season against Halak. Good win against a good team.
- Jake DeBrusk scored twice, he’s heating up, 13 goals in 32 games.
- Charlie McAvoy should start skating soon, still not looking at a return until late next week at the earliest.
- David Pastrnak is an All-Star. His first career nod. He’ll be in San Jose during everyone else’s mandated break at the end of January. He has 25 on the season. Trailing Ovi by 5 goals.
- Joakim Nordstrom broke his leg in the Winter Classic and will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
Currently the Bruins are sitting in the 3rd position in the Atlantic. Fucking Tampa Bay leads the division, they only have 7 losses in 41 games. What the fuck? Boston (50 points) will try and chase down the Toronto Maple Leafs (54 points), while staving off the likes of the Buffalo Sabres (50 points) and the Montreal Canadiens (49 points).
B’s are back in action tomorrow night against the Jack Eichel-less Buffalo Sabres. Tuukka Rask gets the start in net. David Backes returns to the lineup, and will play on the RW per Bruce Cassidy. LFG.
