For whatever reason I’ve been pretty good at networking within sports.  I don’t think that’s dissimilar from anyone else at Barstool, but I’d say that I’ve been the luckiest with it.  I’ve randomly fallen face first into a ton of scoops across baseball, football and even the NBA for no reason other than I’ve gotten lucky with them.  I do know a lot of current scouts across MLB for various reasons that have nothing to do with Barstool, but I’ve gotten to know coaches, scouts, etc. in the NBA and NFL too, even though I am not adept at breaking down those sports at a micro level at all.  I’m very lucky it’s worked out this way, as it makes me look way smarter than I actually am.

Now rewind to last week. I wrote a blog on Matt Nagy and how he lives rent free in Sean McVay’s brain.  It received awesome fanfare in the comment section, twitter, and just about everywhere else as it was grade A great football analysis.

Are we in the trust tree?  We are?  Okay awesome, because I have a confession to make:

I can hardly take any credit at all for that blog. I basically just hit publish.

I was made aware of the situation by a friend of mine who’s a current NFL coach who has worked with both Matt Nagy and Doug Pederson at various parts of their coaching ascensions in the league.  He presented it to me in our weekly film breakdown that him and I have together and my mind was blown at the sheer football intelligence Nagy has.  He gift wrapped me not only a blog, but a SPORTS blog on Barstool SPORTS that had straight up great film breakdown.  With that said, now that Barstool is my full time job I am going to make a concerted effort to be better at breaking down the innards of all sports, not just baseball.  That’s a promise from WSD to you guys.

Now, I can’t say who he this guy is or what he coaches or who he coaches for in any way shape or form, but just know that he is closely connected to just about everyone in football and has told me this:

Matt Nagy is 100x the coach Doug Pederson is, and Doug Pederson just won a Super Bowl.  

I wish I could have him go on Red Line Radio with one of those voice changing things mafia members do when they give interviews on the History Channel and shit, but I can’t because he has to protect his job.

All you have to do is trust me on this one.  We are in incredible, incredible hands with Coach Nagy.
