John, A Trucker From Georgia, Has Sabotaged Barstool Chicago's Social Media Accounts
So last August, Red Line Radio signed on with Barstool Sports as an independent contractor and they rolled out the red carpet for myself, Eddie, Chief and Carl to announce our launch with the site. We fucked around in the office, did some Barstool Game Time, I apparently challenged Carrabis to a fist fight in Rough n Rowdy, and we ended our stay hosting Evening Yak with Big Cat. We did the show to take some calls from our Chicago following on what to expect from Red Line Radio from that point on. Except that didn’t really happen. The very first call was some hill rod truck driver or some shit from Georgia flipping the FUCK out that McAfee quit and his show was no longer on the Sirius station. Here’s the (hilarious) clip:
We joke about this segment a lot and Eddie does an absurdly good John impression:
This first time he did this I laughed so hard my abs were sore the next day.
Now, truth be told, my cube rat days didn’t allow me to absorb every ounce of content Barstool Sports put out because the site was blocked at my old job. I’d zip through the app, pick out the thumbnails that’d catch my attention, read a few blogs here and there and then carry on with my day operating North American freight shipments.
Now I never, ever got into the Heartland stuff. Not that those guys aren’t/weren’t exceptionally talented in what they do, it was just too much content to consume for me personally.
But apparently people LOVED Heartland. Yesterday we switched over all of the old Heartland social platforms to Barstool Chicago and on Instagram our following PLUMMETED. We got the login for the IG account and it was at 387K people. I don’t have the screenshot to prove that, but today I wake up, zipped through the account and we were down to 376K people and falling. It’s like Black Tuesday of the Great Depression for our social media. John from Georgia rallied his Heartland fans and sabotaged us:
Down 11,000 people and counting.
So, the moral of the story is this: Don’t worry about the Heartland Content, and worry about our Chicago content.
It’s not even going to change that much anyways – the social team in NYC will be doing all the same viral videos they were always doing on the old Heartland, new Chicago accounts anyways.
So, once again – go follow all of our accounts again.
