If Ben Simmons Has A Heart, He Will Apologize For This Before The End Of The Day
Listen. I love Ben Simmons. Think he’s great. He could be the first ever 2x NBA Rookie of the Year if he really wanted to be. But there comes a time in life when you need to put your sports fandom aside and start rooting for the betterment of humanity in general. And this play from Ben Simmons last night? Well it just does nothing to move us forward as a kind, compassionate species.
You all know the saying by now. “Treat others how you’d like to be treated”. Well do you think that Ben Simmons would like to be made out to be a fool and completely clowned on an inbound play like he did to Sindarious Thornwell last night?
No. No I do not think he would enjoy that very much, if I’m being totally honest. I mean sure it ends up being a pretty neat highlight. But at what cost, Ben? At what cost.
I just think that an apology is in order, is all. Doesn’t need to be anything too formal. It doesn’t need to be an official statement. Maybe just call the guy at some point today, let him know you feel truly awful about how the whole thing played out, send him a bottle of red to help take his mind off of it and move on from there. Honestly it probably should have already happened by now. But after a play like that, having no apology at all would be pretty unacceptable behavior. And that’s not the type of people we are here in Philly.
And oh yeah, while we’re throwing apologies around maybe it would be a good idea to just say sorry to Joel for almost breaking his face with your elbow on this rebound. Even if you don’t mean it, just say sorry to the big fella.
